Iran is increasing its strategic importance within the region. On March 19th the Iranian-Armenian gas pipeline was inaugurated, adding to the pool of countries who must rely on the Persian giant for energy resources. The presidents of both countries were present at the ceremony honoring the opening of the 141 kilometer long pipeline, and welcomed further bilateral relations between their respective states.
